Song of the Chapter:  Kharku - Diljit Dosanjh Lmao :P

It was a little while before Khushi was able to know the extent of damage done to her in the collision. The doctor, at Arnav's "kind," request, had kept it a secret till then, not wanting to stress or overwhelm her.

She had a broken leg, arm, 2 broken ribs, a concussion, and possible mental trauma. According to the doctors, it was a medical miracle and due to lack of organ puncture that she had survived. According to Buaji it was Nandkisore ki kripya, gods grace.

While Khushi was glad to be alive at all, she was bothered and often extremely irritated at the itching in her stitches and the many bandages and casts she was forced to wear. She was also in a right state over the finance; how would Amma and Babuji manage to pay for all this? She had seen the doctors and their qualifications, nothing less than the best, how could her 'middle class,' family pay for it all?

When she voiced the concern to Buaji and Payal, their faces went grave and Khushi feared what had been sold this time to pay for her treatment.

"Oo paise dene ki zimmidari toh Arnav babua ne uthali. Arnav took on the responsibility of paying the bills." Buaji said, shaking her head slowly, almost in awe.

"Haan Khushi! Humne unhe rokhne ki bohot khoshish ki leken unhone humari ek nahin sunni. Sab karcha uthaliya. Yeah Khushi! We tried to stop him a lot, but he just wouldn't listen! Took all the expenses." Payal said, smiling softly.

"Arnav babua toh saakshat Nandkisore hai. Arnav is just a deity." Buaji said admiringly and Payal snorted, trying not to laugh at Buaji's tone.
"Pata hai titaliya, babua ne tumri khatir vilayat se ache se ache doctor mangae hain. You know butterfly, Arnav has called in the best doctors from abroad for you."

"Humare liye, leken kyun? For me? But why?" Khushi whispered to herself.

"Hai re Nandkisore! Tumne unki behen ko bachaya hai! Kuch to tumre liye karega na? Sanka Devi aur Sanka Devi ke savaal! Oh god! You saved his sister, he's going to do something for you! The emotional wreck and her questions!" Buaji huffed and said she was going home to rest and Payal, after smiling at Khushi warmly, offered to accompany her.

After the two had departed, and Khushi was now alone she thought back to what Arnav's mother had told her. Was her saving Anjali the only reason Arnav was acting this way? Or could it be something else?

"Khushiji? Kya hum undar aa sakte hain? Khushi, can I come in?" Khushi glanced up and smiled softly at the sight of Anjali.

"Ji. Aaye. Yeah, come in." Khushi said quietly, remembering the sting of Anjali's slap.
"Voh Khushiji- Actually," Anjali began, sitting gingerly in a chair by Khushi's bedside.

"Hum aapse maafi mangna chaate teh. Humne joh baatein aapse ki thi, humein aisa koi haq nahin tha. Humein maaf kardijiye. I wanted to apologize. The things I said to you- I had no right. Please forgive me." Anjali said, tears streaming down her face by the end of her spirited speech.

"Aapne toh humare liye apni jaan tak kurbaan kardi thi aur- you had practically given your life for me and-" Anjali broke off, hanging her head.

"Nahin Anjaliji. Aapko iss tarah se maafi mangne ki koi zaroorat nahin hain. Agar hum aapki jage hotein toh shayad hum bhi aise hi karte. Ek taraf hum teh, aur doosri taraf aapke pati. Hum samajh sakhte hain. No, Anjali! You don't have to apologize like this. If I was in your place, maybe I would've done the same. On one side there was me, who you barely knew, and on the other side there was your husband. I can understand." Khushi said, smiling reassuringly as she clasped Anjali's hands in hers.

"Khushiji aap itni achi hain. Leken ek din humne aapse kaha tha ke aapko humein Di kehne ka koi haq nahin tha. Ab hum aapse guzaarish karna chaate hain ke aap humein Di hi bulaiyen. Aapko pura haq hain khushiji. Oh Khushi, you're so nice! But one day I said to you that you have no right to call me Di, sister. Now I want to request you to call me Di and nothing else. You have the full right to do so Khushi!" Anjali whispered and Khushi beamed at her.

The two women embraced gingerly, lest Khushi's injuries be jostled, just as Arnav came storming in creating havoc.

"Khushi, tumhari davai ka samein aa chuka hain. It's time for your medication. Tumne khaliya? Have you eaten anything yet?" Arnav asked and Khushi and Anjali pulled apart.

"Di, aap? You? Khushi? Aap dono- kya hua? Khushi, tum teek toh ho na? You two, what happened? Khushi, are you okay?"

"Chote, shaant hojao. Khushiji bilkul teek hain. Hum dono toh bass aise hi. Arnav, calm down! Khushi is absolutely fine. We were just hugging." Anjali rolled her eyes at her crazy brother. Arnav nodded, but still looked anxious and surged forwards to check Khushi over for any new injuries.

"Yeh kaise hua?! What happened here?" Arnav asked angrily looking at the pale scar that marked Khushi's cheek from Anjali's slap.

Anjali and Khushi both glanced at each other, horrified. This could get ugly, fast.
