HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHOUT OUT TO heygallagher aka MY BEST FRIEND

Khushi huffed glancing around her, once again, crowded hospital room. Buaji had harped on and on about her recovery, Amma had cried some more, Anjali had arrived with a peace offering of Jalebi's, Kishan Chand Mithai from Chandni Chowk, Payal had hovered over her, Naniji had tied a raksha dhaga around her wrist and Mamiji had forgotten to Hello Hi and Bye Bye'd Khushi's patience quota for the day.

Where was Arnav? He had said that he would be right outside, but when Khushi had asked the nurse to call him in the morning, she had replied that Mr. Raizada had left earlier on.
Khushi felt a surge of irritation take hold of her and she wanted to throw something. How dare he just leave?!

"Yeh Bhai kahan chale Gaye? Raat bhar toh yahaan teh? Where did Arnav go? He was here the entire night?" Akash asked, glancing about.

"Khushiji kya Nannav raat ko yahaan tah? Was Nannav here last night?" NK questioned, and Khushi nodded stiffly.

"Koi meeting hogi, ajayenge Chote. There must have been a meeting, Arnav will be here," Anjali said casually, gently pulling Khushi's dark hair into a plait.

"Hai re Nandkisore. Titaliya tohre liye hum puri aloo laye teh, khass humre hathon se banaa. Oh god, butterfly I brought you food from home, specially made by me." Buaji said, her tone uncharacteristically soft.

"Hello Hi Bye Bye! Ey Hai Re Nandkisore, pura creditwa matt leiyo. Tohri helpiya humne bhi kiye. Doing it too epeelease. Hey Ms. Oh-my-god, don't take all the credit. I helped!" Mami said, her face colouring slightly at the confession.

"Shukriya Mamiji, Buaji. Leken humein abhi bukh nahin hain. Hum baad mein khalenge." Khushi said and Buaji and Mami, though the latter looked rather offended, nodded.

"Hey, yeh Nannav abhi takh chaaya kyun nahin? Why hasn't Arnav shadowed yet?" NK complained.

Khushi laughed shortly, shaking her head at NK's horrible Hindi.

"Chaaya nahin Nanehji, aaya!" She corrected and NK blushed, grabbing his ear in apology.
Just then, they all heard a familiar voice come down the hallway.

"Haan Aman, presentation tumhi lead karoge. Main nahin aapaoonga. No, bas- Aman maine kehdiya na? Yeah Aman, you'll lead the presentation. I can't come. No, just- Aman I just said it okay!"

"Loh NK, Bhai chaagaye. Look NK, Arnav has 'bestowed himself.'" Akash mocked and NK blushed again.

Khushi took a deep intake of breath at the sound of Arnav's voice. He was back? Why was he back now?! He had left her before hadn't he? And then Arnav walked in and all rational thought flew out the window.

He was- well... he- he was ASR. In contrast to yesterday, his stubble was trimmed and close cut, his hair cut and jelled to perfection and he wore a black suit, with a light blue shirt underneath that highlighted his complexion. He was every inch the Adonis she had first met.

Khushi stared openly, unabashed at Arnav as he strode forwards and greeted Buaji, Mamiji, Naniji, and her Amma.

"Hey Nannav. Got a makeover I see?" NK teased and Arnav glowered at him. NK visibly deflated and cleared his throat, walking out quickly.

"Mr. Raizada, aapko kuch chahiye? Do you need anything?" A breathless looking nurse asked as she hurried in behind  Arnav.  Khushi felt a surge of irrational jealousy take life within her. How dare she just run in here, all breathless and flustered with her uniform askew, and make suggestive comments towards Khushi's Arnav?!

"Arnavji?! Aap subah jaldi mein kaha chale gaye teh? Hum aapki rah dekh rahe teh. Aur aap hain keh- Where did you go off so fast and so early?! I was looking for you and you-" Khushi cut herself off, putting a stopper on the anger that was about to come pouring out.

"Voh Khushi main- I- " Arnav began awkwardly, looking incredibly surprised, before being cut off by the nurse again.

"Hum aapke liye pani leke aaye? Bahar bohot garmi hai na iss liye. Aur andaar bhi bohot garmi hain. Should I bring you water? It's really hot outside, right, cause of that. As a matter of fact, it's quite hot in here too."

Khushi opened her mouth to make a scathing retort, but Arnav beat her to it.

"Yeh koi dharamshaala hain yah hospital? Unbelievable man. Is this a restaurant or a hospital?" Arnav snapped and the nurse recoiled from his harsh words.

"Chote," Anjali admonished lightly, as the nurse scuttled out, and Khushi tried desperately to hide her smirk.

"Di-" Arnav began in protest, before he sighed and shook his head instead, "Nevermind."

"Khushi, tumne khaliya? Have you eaten?" Arnav asked and Khushi ignored him, still upset over his disappearance.

"Khushi. Kitni bar kaha hai, look at me when I'm talking to you."

"Khushi, main tumse baat kar raha hoon! I'm talking to you!"

"KHUSHI I-"

"Haan. Humne khaliya. Yes. I've eaten," Khushi said briskly. She avoided eye contact with him and stared firmly at the wall.

"Arrey, Sanka Devi, jhoot kahe kahat ho? Why are you lying?" Buaji said loudly and Mamiji nodded.

"Khushi, tumne mujhse jhoot kaha? You lied to me? How dare-  eat now." Arnav snarled, cutting himself off halfway. Khushi huffed as Arnav walked over with the puri aloo and sat down on the edge of her bed.

"Humein bhook nahin hain. I'm not hungry." Khushi snapped, turning her head away as Arnav brought a bite towards her.

"Now you are." He growled firmly, grasping her chin and force-feeding her. Anjali and Nani exchanged gleeful glances and Mamiji looked astonished, while Buaji stared in shock at the pair before her.

After he had finished feeding her,Buaji had taken the dishes, and he had given her, her medication, Arnav stared at Khushi for a long time. When Khushi had given up all hope of Arnav speaking, he finally opened his mouth.

"Khushi, I'm sorry for leaving without telling you." Arnav said lowly and she felt her spirits lift.

"Acha? Really?" Khushi asked hopefully, and he nodded, a smirk pulling at one corner of his mouth.

"Abhi aaram karo. Baad mein mujhe tumse... kuch kehna hai. Bahot zaroori baat hain. Now rest. Afterwards, I need to tell you something. It's really important." Arnav straightened to his full height and smirked down at Khushi, who's heart was thudding faster than ever before.

Accidentally In Love - Chapter 10

Accidentally In Love- Chapter 10

Okay so I'm back

Special Shoutout to thegirlinth3rain, this update is just for you Mansi :)

Arnav felt his entire body tense up.  His eyes flickered back and forth between Khushi and Di who were glancing at each other and then back at him, with worry in their gaze.

"Khushi," Arnav said sternly, and watched as she flinched. "Kya hua? What happened?"

"Voh- uh Arnavji bas.. pata nahin. Tha- uh... I don't know!" Khushi said quickly, glancing up to meet Arnav's penetrating gaze before she pulled her hazel eyes away, afraid he'd read the lies within them.

"Di?" Arnav said, turning to face her expectantly, Di wouldn't lie to him. He felt Khushi reach for him, her tiny hands gripping the back of his black satiny vest.

"Arnavji chodiye na. Kuch nahin hain. Aap kuch keh rahe teh? Leave it Arnav, its nothing, you were saying something?" Khushi asked, tugging gently on his clothing.

"Khushi, agar sach mein kuch bhi nahin hai, toh tumhe mere jaanne se koi problem nahin honi chahiye. If it's really nothing, then you shouldn't have a problem with me knowing." Arnav pointed out and watched as Khushi's entire face fell and her hand loosened it's grip on him. He ignored Di's presence and leaned down to stare into Khushi's bright eyes, now steadfastly avoiding his own.

"Hey," Arnav said, gently grasping her chin and tugging her head straight to look into her eyes. "Tum mujhse jhoot nahin bol sakhti. You can't lie to me. Tell me, kya hua. What happened?"

"Voh- hum- hum aapko nahin bata sakhte. I can't tell you." Khushi said, glancing away again, after stealing a shared look with Di.

"Khu-"

"Hum bata teh hain Chote. I'll tell you Arnav," said Di firmly. Arnav stood and turned to face his sister expectantly.

"Jab hum gaadi mein teh aur Khushiji ne uss admi ki asliyat humare samne rakhdi thi, toh humein unka vishwas nahin hua aur humne unhe... voh.. humne.. humne unhe thappar mara tha. When we were in the car and Khushi brought that man's awful reality out before me, I didn't believe her and I...well... I slapped her." Anjali finished in a shameful whisper.

Khushi squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for Arnav to turn and demand to know what she'd done to provoke his sister... but nothing came. She slowly opened them to see him standing there, in the exact same position, his hands fisted at his sides; however, Khushi would guess that his expression must have been something formidable as Anjali slowly backed out of the hospital room and slowly made her way down the hall.

Arnav slowly turned back to face Khushi and she reeled back in shock for a split second from the rage on his face. He gave a long and ragged sigh before reaching for her dinner tray, resting on the bedside table. He deposited it on her bedside before reaching to uncover the food, still not meeting her eyes.

"Arnavji?" she questioned softly, waiting for his outburst, that she was sure was to come.

"Damn it Khushi, you should have told me. Mujhe batana chahiye tha." Arnav growled, tearing a hand through his dark hair. Dark stubble, a few days worth, covered his jaw and she could see the muscles clenching in his neck.

"Arnavji hum toh abhi abhi jaage hain, hum aapko thappar ke bare main kese bata teh. But I just woke up, how could I have told you about the slap?" Khushi questioned softly, wringing her tiny hands together ,searching for his eyes that now avoided hers.

"Main- Main .... thappar... ki baat nahin kar raha. I'm not talking about the damn slap Khushi! Main Shyam ki baat- I'm talking about Shyam." Arnav snarled, clenching his hands together, resting his head in his hands.

He looked so tired and so ragged that Khushi couldn't help but feel bad for him. The usually impeccably kept Arnav Singh Raizada, the great ASR, was literally falling apart.

"Humein maaf kardijiye Arnavji. Humein darr laga ke aap humari baat ka yakeen nahin karte. I'm sorry Arnav, forgive me. I thought... I was scared, that you wouldn't have believed me." She explained quietly, fidgeting with her bandages. She gasped as Arnav's large hand sprang up, grabbing hers and holding it in place.

"Aisa mat karo. Dard hoga. Don't do that. It'll hurt." Arnav ordered, but his hand never left hers and Khushi felt the blood rising to her cheeks as Arnav's gaze never wavered either.

"Khushi mujhe bata kar toh dekhti. You could have told me. Khushi I- I'm sorry. I'm sorry ke maine tumein aisa ehsaas dilaya ke tum mujhe kuch nahin bata sakhti. That I made you feel like you can't tell me anything. Mujhe maaf kardo? Forgive me?" By the end of his statement, Arnav looked as though the words were being wrenched from him against his will. Seeing this and his distasteful expression as he stared down at the hospital food before him, Khushi couldn't help but burst into giggles.  His head snapped up and Arnav fixed her with a quizzical expression.

"Why are you laughing? What the!?"
Not my gif!!!!
"Voh aap- aise- aapka chehra! You- Your face!" Khushi gasped, unable to control her giggling as Arnav's expression went from confused to positively offended.

"WHAT THE!? Mera chehra? My face?! Iss liye tum hasri ho? That's why you're laughing? You're unbelievable Khushi Kumari Gupta!" Arnav growled, releasing her hand and Khushi's laughter died immediately and pain started in her wounds. She opened her mouth to complain about it, but thought better, remembering Arnav's overprotective attitude from earlier.

"Lo, khalo! Here, eat!" Arnav snapped,  offering Khushi the spoon of food, still upset over the jibe at his face.  5 day stubble or freshly trimmed, ASR was a sight to behold either way. What did Khushi Kumari Gupta and her pompommed clothes know?!

Khushi fought to control her smile at Arnav's surliness and obediently accepted the spoon. Arnav fed her, her dinner and then stood to get rid of the tray.

"Bloody Indian food. Less food, more spice." He muttered bitterly, as he tossed the dishes away and vigorously scrubbed his hands. Khushi tried not to stare at the muscles working in his upper back and rear deltoids as he washed his hands. He turned, shaking his hands out and the movement was so sudden Khushi gasped and tossed her head in the opposite direction to avoid looking like she had been staring.

Arnav smirked, watching the flush rise over Khushi's cheeks and the pale column of her neck, as she tried to avoid looking in his direction.

"Lo davai lelo. Here, take your medication." Arnav ordered gruffly, and Khushi slowly turned to face him, not meeting his eyes as she took the pain killers and slowly leaned back as Arnav fluffed her pillows around her and adjusted her blankets.

When she was fully laying down Arnav leaned over her and picked up her blankets from around her waist and draped them completely over her, muttering something about dropping temperatures.  Once he had fully tucked her in, he moved her room's phone closer to her and told her to call Buaji if she needed anything from home and that he would be right outside otherwise.

Khushi gaped up at him as he fussed over her, smoothing her hair out of the way of her bandage, and adjusting the height of her bed.

"Chalo sojao. Go on, go to sleep!" Arnav said, before clearing his throat awkwardly, and hurrying out of the room, calling down the hall for a nurse to bring him a blanket.

Oh, it was going to be an interesting recovery, indeed.
